🌱 🌳❗❗NEW: partnership with onetreeplanted.org ❗❗🌳 🌱

We’re happy to announce that we’ve partnered with One Tree Planted/@onetreeplanted to plant trees!

One Tree Planted is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to global reforestation. They plant trees to restore nature and biodiversity. They also raise awareness about the importance of trees, offer businesses like ours a simple sustainability solution, and motivate younger generations to do something positive for the environment.

At the completion of your trip on one of our Turo vehicles, we will gift a tree in your name to be planted in North America. You will receive a Tree Certificate as a confirmation of this donation. (for details see ‘How does it work?’ below)

Who is One Tree Planted and why should you care?

In Canada, it is estimated that tree planting rates have declined by 50% since the late 1990s. This is despite the fact that the benefits of trees, both in terms of the environment and human health, are more widely recognized than ever before.

One Tree Planted’s mission is to make it simple for everyone to help the environment by planting trees. They work with reforestation partners around the world to plant trees where they are needed the most.

In Canada, One Tree Planted works with several different partners, including the Canadian Wildlife Federation, Forests Ontario, and Tree Canada. Together, they have planted millions of trees across the country.

The benefits of trees are many and varied. They help to clean the air and water, provide homes for wildlife, and can help to cool local climates. Trees also have a positive impact on human health, providing us with fresh air to breathe and helping to reduce stress levels.

With the help of organizations like One Tree Planted, we can all do our part to help the environment and make the world a better place.

How much C02 can a tree absorb and how much C02 emits a car?

According to https://www.ethicalreading.org.uk/how-many-trees-to-offset-a-car-commute a typical car emits 130g of CO2 per km and a tree has an average net absorption of about 30 kg of CO2 per year. So a trip of 500 km would emit 65 kg of CO2 - which a tree would be able to absorb in a little over a year.
