In her TED Talk, Taiye Selasi asks a simple but profound question: "Don't ask where I'm from, ask where I'm a local."
It's a question that gets to the heart of what it means to be a global citizen in a world that is increasingly interconnected. And it's a question that Selasi, a writer and photographer, is uniquely qualified to answer. Born in Ghana, raised in Britain and educated at Yale, Selasi is a woman of many places. But she is also a woman of many perspectives, and it is this that allows her to see the world in a unique way.
In her TED Talk, Selasi argues that we should all think of ourselves as citizens of the world. "The world is my home," she says. "I'm a local wherever I go."
Why we think this video is worth watching (16 min):
It's a powerful message and one that is particularly relevant in today's globalized world. We are all citizens of the world, and we all have a responsibility to make it a better place.
